Reliance Building Company

Building Excellence Since 1972. Reliance is our Foundation.

Our Founder:  Alfred 'Al' Deptula, P. E. graduated from Wayne State University and began his career as a mechanical engineer in the Detroit automotive industry.  He developed an interest in the construction industry and went to work for a civil contractor specializing in bridge building.  Al soon realized that he could improve upon his employer's general contracting business model.  Reliance Building Company was incorporated in 1972 and, for the first few years, Al bid and managed projects from his kitchen table.

Reliance Building Company's first project was a comfort station in Kensington Metropark.  The station is still in use and only recently required upkeep repairs.  You can review our complete 'Project Resume' in the 'Completed Projects' page of our website.

Present Leadership:  In 1989 R. Lynn Natzic, P. E. joined Reliance and, in 1995, entered into a buy-sell agreement with Al to take the reins and become the company president.  Al continued to work for and guide Reliance until his untimely passing in 1997.  Lynn remains the company president and continues the work-ethic and integrity that Al established as a basis for Reliance Building Company.
